This extravagant sideboard is decorated with intricate designs in the oriental taste that became known as ‘Chinoiserie’. Chinoiserie is a French word, describing oriental items created in England. This cabinet features three drawers over three curved cabinet doors, and is supported by four pilasters topped with lion masks. The lacquer is done on pine, and is in very good condition. The Prince Regent could certainly have included such a piece in his colorful Brighton Pavilion!
